Refund Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. It explains when you get your money back and how to ask.
The short version: if Tripsy did not do what it said it would, tell us and we will refund you. The rest is detail.
1. What you can buy
- Membership — $29 a month or $199 a year. Unlimited trips (subject to a fair-use limit of 100 a month), Tripsy Local, and Tripsy Circle once you have verified. Renews automatically.
- Founding Membership — $99 a year, limited to the first 100 Members. Renews automatically at $99 for as long as it stays active without interruption.
- Trip Pass — $19 once. Unlocks one itinerary, permanently. Does not renew.
All payments are processed by Stripe, in US dollars. Your bank may apply its own conversion rate.
2. Cancelling a Membership
Cancel any time from Membership, then Manage billing, in the app. You do not need to email us, and we will not ask why.
Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not refund the period you have already paid for — you keep full access until that period ends, then move to the free plan. Your trips stay where they are.
3. When we refund
In full, no questions
- You were charged after cancelling. Always our error, always refunded.
- You were charged twice for the same thing.
- Tripsy was substantially unavailable for a meaningful part of what you paid for.
- A paid feature did not work and we could not fix it for you.
- You did not recognise the charge and did not authorise it. Tell us before your bank — we will resolve it faster and it costs you nothing.
We generally refund
- An annual renewal you did not expect, told to us within 14 days, if you have not meaningfully used the year. We would rather refund you than keep money from someone who wanted to leave.
- A Trip Pass on a trip you cannot take, if it is recent and largely unused.
We usually will not refund
- A Membership period you have used and want back afterwards.
- A Trip Pass on an itinerary you have had unlocked for a while — it is delivered permanently and immediately.
- A trip that did not work out for reasons outside Tripsy: a visa refusal, a cancelled flight, weather, or a business that turned out differently to its description. We plan trips; we do not operate them.
- Founding pricing after you have let a Membership lapse. The $99 rate is tied to a Membership that stays active; once it ends, the standard price applies.
If we terminate your account without cause, we refund the unused portion of your Membership. The same applies if we materially reduce or discontinue a feature you are paying for.
4. Your legal rights come first
Nothing here removes a right you have by law, and where the law gives you more than this policy does, the law wins.
If you are in the EU or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Digital content is an exception where you asked for it immediately and acknowledged losing that right — which is what happens when you buy a Trip Pass and the itinerary unlocks straight away. We will still consider a refund on its merits.
Statutory guarantees about digital content being as described and fit for purpose apply regardless of anything above.
5. How to ask
Email hello@getripsy.com from the address on your account, telling us roughly when you were charged and how much, and what happened.
You do not need to justify yourself at length. “I cancelled and was charged anyway” is a complete request.
We aim to reply within 3 business days and, where we agree, process the refund immediately. It reaches your card in 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank — that part is out of our hands.
If we say no, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to look again.
6. Chargebacks
If something is wrong, please come to us first. A chargeback takes weeks, costs us a fee, and usually gets you your money more slowly than we would.
We may suspend an account with an unresolved chargeback until it is sorted — not as punishment, but because we cannot tell a billing dispute from a stolen card until we have talked to you.
